"Colori Toscani" is a 150-year-old quarry-stone
house, only recently totally restored, and situated in a calm position
at the edge of one Tuscan village close to Lucca.
Surrounded by olive-trees and a beautiful extended garden with lots
of flowers, fruit- and lemon-trees, a banana-tree, palms and fragrant
bushes like rosemary, lavender and oleander, it's the ideal place
for relaxing. From here you can enjoy marvellous views over olive-groves
up to the Monte Pisano, which separates this valley from the sea,
responsible for a pleasant mild climate.
Only 9 km away, you find Lucca, the marvellous medieval city, birthplace
of G. Puccini and well-known around the world for its unique and
completely maintained city walls. What is more, the near - but inaudible
- motorway brings you in short time (30 - 60 min.) to all interesting
cities of Tuscany like Pisa, San Gimignano, Pistoia, Siena, Florence,
Carrara with its famous marble quarries, Vinci with a Leonardo Museum,
Volterra with an Etruscan Museum and Collodi with the Pinocchio
Park. From “Colori Toscani” you can easily go to spas
like Montecatini Terme (15 km), San Giuliano Terme (10 km) and Bagni
di Lucca (20 km) or visit the splendid Capannori’s villas
like Villa Reale, Villa Torrigiani, Villa Mansi, Villa Mazzarosa,
ecc. The Versilia’s sea is near (30 min.); you can go to seaside
resorts like Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Lido di Camaiore and Torre
del Lago with its Puccini Festival. Alternatively you can take a
ship to Elba and the Tuscan Archipelago, a very beautiful sea-park.Back
in the evening, after a delicious Tuscan dinner in one of the nearby
restaurants, for example La Cantina di Alfredo (2 km), La Casina
delle Rose (5km), La Conca (2 km), Palajola (3 km), La Baracca di
Nanni (5 km) or Il Gattino Bianco (1 km), you may let the day come
to and end on the homey terrace of "Colori Toscani" with
a good glass of wine, bought in one of the numerous wine-growing
estates along the wine-road on the hills around Lucca.
In summer don't miss the sagras in the several villages, where the
local residents and the tourists enjoy the prevailing local specialities
like mushrooms, polenta, tortelli and beans, drinking and dancing
together the whole evening.
The owner of "Colori Toscani" would be happy to arrange
for your further stay any kind of activities you desire. Choose
from language courses, wine tours, cooking, outdoor adventures like
ballooning (www.luccaballoonclub.it)
skydiving and skiing, biking and mountain biking, trekking, jogging.
You can also golf, tennis, riding, swimming, fitness or, if you
prefer, painting, drawing and even schiatzu. A keep-fit trail with
picnic tables is about 3 km from the house in the green hills of
the "Compitese", several kilometres long, in the heart
of the Tuscan country.
Near the house (1 km) there are a supermarket, a bank, a post-office
and the local oil mill (Frantoio Sociale): here you can buy the
first class virgin olive oil, which is nearly acid-free, and other
typical products of the area. Try also the healthy water from one
of the 100 sources that rise from the hills of the "Compitese",
like the well-known S. Giusto spring in the village of S. Andrea
di Compito.
The “Colori Toscani” has typical “sand-blasted
ceiling”, old floor and panoramic windows.
The whole house is equipped by a central gas heating, so there are
a lot of families who want to stay here also in autumn and winter
to visit Lucca in low season.
